Private Overland Shore Excursion

Visiting Iceland by cruise ship is a great way to get a taste of many corners of this amazing island. However there are always places which can't be reached on a day excursion. A 2 or 3 day tour will extend your sightseeing reach and allow you to experience more of Iceland than other cruise ship passengers. After all Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and deserves to be the highlight of your cruise holiday.

So if you want to have it all, then a multi-day overland tour between ports is the way to go!
Check out our standard sample itineraries and/or contact us for a customised itinerary for your group.

Here are some sample itineraries which will fit most Iceland cruise ship travellers - please note that all itineraries can be operated in reverse order. We're always happy to customise a tour around your schedule and interests.

Isafjordur-Akureyri (2 days, 1 night) - Off the beaten path travel!

Day 1 - We explore the magnificent winding fjords of Isafjardardjup bay and the Strandir coastal region. Enjoy some less visited natural pearls including Kaldalon glacial creek, the seal colony of Hvitanes & the fabulous views over Hunafloi bay from the Drangsnes peninsula.
There are also plenty of exciting cultural stops along the way including the cozy & informative Arctic Fox Centre, Litli-Baer traditional turfhouse serving delicious local waffles & tea, and the Magic & Witchcraft Museum. Warm rustic geothermal pools abound along our route, offering the perfect opportunity for an authentic Icelandic way to relax en route.
Short add-on excursion options include beginners sea kayaking, horse riding, and a visit to Grimsey puffin island.
Overnight in Strandir or the Northwest.

Day 2 - We traverse over to North Iceland and its beautiful countryside landscape. Enjoy the historic Skagafjordur fjord and its beautiful islands, the "infinitely many" hills of Vatnsdalur valley and the towering mountains & deep valleys of Trollaskagi.
Short add-on excursion options include seal watching, whale watching and river rafting.
You will be dropped off at the dock in Akureyri town in time for your cruise ship's departure.

Isafjordur-Reykjavik (2 days, 1 night) - The "wild west" of Iceland!

Day 1 - We travel through the western Westfjords, enjoying great attractions like Latrabjarg cliffs, Raudasandur beach and Dynjandi waterfall. The landscape along the way is truly spectacular and there are some nice & rustic geothermal pools. We'll make our way to an evening sea ferry over to the Snaefellsnes, where we'll spend the night.

Day 2 - Today we explore Berserkjahraun lava fields, the famous Snaefellsjokull glacier volcano, Hellnar & Arnarstapi beaches, and many more exciting natural wonders of the magnificent Snaefellsnes peninsula.
