Wild Arctic Sunset

Starting from:
Season: 12th May-31st Jul
Duration: 4 hours
Minimum age: None
Max: 14 pax

From early May to end of July the sun does not fully set in the Westfjords (instead it dips below the horizon and stays low for a few hours, gradually gliding eastwards), creating amazing light and shadow reflections on the mountains. And we can't think of a better sight than the midnight sun setting on the ocean while framed by majestic mountains on both sides.

Yet this tour is not only about enjoying the midnight sun and the 24-hour daylight. It's also about getting away from it all to an isolated and remote place in the most pristine of natural environments, where you can listen to little streams trickle down the mountainside, hear the power of the brim and the sounds of chirping birds. We might see abandoned farms, we might run into the lone resident, or we might see no signs of civilisation except a faint jeep trail. Our midnight destination is always a secret but wherever we go our goal is to get away from it all - and at a time of the day when hardly anyone else is around.

We take you well away from Isafjordur town (where the midnight sun is not visible) to a wild and secluded fjord or creek where we can enjoy the magical midnight hour in solitude and serenity. And we hope for a picturesque sunset! Our precise destination differs from tour to tour, and is always a secret and we like to keep it that way! We promise a scenic journey to an offbeat place that you wouldn't have thought of going to yourself.

We'll stop for 30-60 minutes at our midnight destination so you can fully relax and enjoy your time out in the nature, and take a short walk on your own if you like.
