Folafotur Kayaking

Starting from: Ísafjörður
Season: 15th May-15th Sep
Duration: 8 hours, of which 40 min transfer by car each way
Difficulty: 4/5 - Suitable for intermediate to advanced sea kayakers
Minimum age: 16 years old
Min: 2 pax Max: 8 pax

The tiny Folafótur peninsula in the Ísafjarðardjúp bay, is only accessible by foot or boat, and provides a wonderfully isolated location for a tranquil kayaking experience. Whales, seals and birds are frequently spotted and there are fantastic views over the Ísafjarðardjúp bay, including the Drangajökull glacier.

We drive from Ísafjörður for about 40 minutes from Ísafjörður into Seyðisfjörður fjord, from where we start paddling around Folafótur. We stop at the end of the peninsula, explore the unique rock formations and abandoned farms, and enjoy our packed lunch. The tour finishes in Hestfjörður fjord from where we drive back to Ísafjörður.
The total kayaking distance is 18 km. Experience sea kayaking is necessary for this tour, as the distance is quite long and the paddling can get difficult if you have some wind.
